Kilnwick Percy Wedding - York Wedding Photographer

York Wedding Photographer - Kilnwick Percy Wedding

One of the best parts of my job is meeting some amazing couples, as they plan and embark on the biggest day of their lives! It’s such a privilege to spend time together at this special life moment, and being a small part of their day is truly an honour. This is exactly how I felt with Christine & Peter, as they planned their Kilnwick Percy wedding in York.

Christine & Peter are such good fun! We always had a good laugh together during our various planning meetings, and we also enjoyed spending some time together in summer, with an engagement shoot in York. I knew as they day approached that they would throw themselves in to their wedding day, and just have the best day ever (which is exactly what happened) so I was really looking forward to the big day on 10th December 2022.

The day started with Christine, her Mum and her bridesmaids getting ready together at Kilnwick Percy Resort, whilst Peter and his Groomsmen got ready together at their home. We had jointly decided to hire a second photographer for the day, so we were joined by Sadie at Baildon Wedding Photography which was so great! I covered Christine & her bride tribe, whilst Sadie was with the boys!

I had such a great time in the morning with the girls! The bride was super relaxed and excited about the day ahead, and with a few bucks fizzes to keep everyone going (it was Christmas time after all!), the atmosphere was amazing. We laughed so much as everyone got ready, and we got loads of beautiful shots of everyone during this time. I also took some shots of the details, including Christine’s beautiful wedding dress!

The lads got ready over at Christine & Peter’s house. There was non-stop laughter as the boys worked through their last minute ‘to do’ lists and prepared their convertible cars ready to drive to Kilnwick Percy. It was so cool to see the convoy of three convertibles ready to roll out to the venue, although perhaps was a little less great when Pete’s BMW broke down 100m from home!! No panic though, he made it through to Kilnwick Percy in plenty of time, and even had time to enjoy a Guinness before the ceremony in a nod to Christine’s Irish heritage!

The ceremony itself was beautiful, with lots of laughs (and some tears) as the couple formally ‘tied the knot’. It was so lovely to see how loved Christine & Peter are by their family and friends. The ceremony was made personal by some beautiful readings, and as the couple walked out at the end as a newly married couple, the celebrations began in earnest.

Given that sun goes down at about 4pm in December, we went straight out for some portraits of the couple at sunset! It was such a beautiful day, with some light snow/heavy frost on the ground, and a stunning sunset! We were able to get some amazing shots that I hope they will treasure for years into the future.

Following the portraits, we returned indoors to photograph the group shots that the couple had requested. It was 1 degrees outside so being back in the warmth was the best plan for these shots! Shortly after the group shots, the wedding breakfast was served, but not before the speeches – and what a set of speeches they were! I spent most of the time laughing behind the camera at all of the anecdotes, as well some beautifully sentimental words from the bridesmaids and Christine’s Mum! I always love photographing the speeches, the range of emotions experienced is huge, from tears to falling about laughing, and this set of speeches had the lot covered!

After the wedding breakfast, everyone enjoyed a few drinks as the photobooth and pic-n-mix stand opened, followed by the start of the evening party! Christine & Pete absolutely nailed their first dance (‘Here’s to Us’ by Halestorm for those wondering), and straight after the dancefloor was packed and bouncing! I love getting onto the dancefloor with the cameras, getting some awesome shots of the evening party unfolding!

I really enjoyed photographing the party, with everyone is such good spirits! It was so clear how much everyone was having a great time, and I know that this would have meant the world for Pete & Christine, who were just so keen for everyone to have an amazing day!

I had such an epic time photographing this truly special day and feel very lucky to have met Christine & Pete and been able to celebrate their day with them! The final gallery was beautiful, and I hope it will be a selection of photographs that they will treasure forever. Thank you to everyone at Kilnwick Percy in York for helping make this day so perfect, and congratulations again to the wonderful Mr & Mrs Coombes! I look forward to catching up with you soon!

If you have recently got engaged and are planning a wedding, then firstly I am sending you many congratulations!! If you would like to find out more about how I can capture your special day, then you can find more information here, or alternatively get in touch with me here.
