Wedding at York Registry Office

York Registry Office Wedding - Photo by Mark Hooper Photography

York is one of my favourite places to photograph weddings. From the stunning med-evil architecture, to the cobbled streets, through to the beautiful parks, York really has everything to plan your perfect wedding! I was so honoured to be asked by Georgina and Tim to photograph their wedding back in September.

They had decided to have a small format wedding, with the ceremony at York Registry Office, and the reception at Impossible, York. I love the intimate feeling of small weddings and the family feel they had to their day was just perfect! The day started at York registry office. I arrived to take some photographs of the details and capture Tim's arrival. I then photographed the guests arriving in the excitement building before the group went into the registry office ahead of Georgina's arrival.

Georgina was next to arrive at York Registry Office, along with her little daughter. She looked amazing in her dress, with her Bridgerton inspired veil. We had some fun having a few photographs outside the registry office, before it was time for the ceremony to start. Georgina had asked her Grandfather to walk her down the aisle, and dressed in his Scottish regalia (complete with Kilt and Sporran), their entrance was stunning.

The ceremony itself was beautiful, so personal and the love in the room was so clear! It’s always such a privilege to witness two soul mates get married, and this was one of those beautiful days! After the ceremony we went out into the back garden at York Registry Office, and had some confetti shots, group shots and some portraits. We then walked our way over to Impossible, stopping at a few locations along the way for some more portraits - beautiful! The wedding day was actually the day of the Queens funeral, so whilst we held a toast for the Queen during the day, it meant that most areas in York were strangely quiet!

Once we got to Impossible (which is a beautiful venue serving incredible food), the bride & groom spent some time mingling with their guests, as well as spending quality time with their daughter. It was a special time, and I took lots of candid shots of everyone enjoying themselves. One highlight from a photography point of view was the stunning staircase at Impossible, which we used to capture a couple more portraits of the happy couple!

Just before they sat down for a meal, It was my time to leave for the day! I had a great time photographing this special day, and was looking forward to meeting back up with Georgina & Tim the following day for their rings to be tattooed! I will cover that amazing experience in a blog post soon, so watch this space!
