Yorkshire Wedding Barn Wedding

Yorkshire wedding barn wedding

Photographing a wedding day is always special. It’s such a privilege to be let into such an important day in a couples’ lives, and be trusted to produce a gallery of images that reflect the day, and all the emotions that came with it. However, Hannah & Ally’s wedding day in December at the stunning Yorkshire Wedding Barn was extra special for me, as they are both good friends, having spent years working together in a previous life (I had a whole other career for 11 years before leaving to follow my photography dream).

Hannah & Ally’s day was simply perfect! It started with lots of laughs getting ready in the morning, all the way through to an epic ceilidh dance at night-time. The care and attention they had given to every detail was so beautiful, with everything from home brewed beers named after their legendary dog Riley, through to the table plan design set as a ski map (they got married on the slopes so the alpine theme ran throughout).

One of the biggest tips I have for wedding planning is to make your day your own! Don’t worry too much about the old traditions, but focus more on you as a couple and your unique story! Hannah & Ally embraced this, and I particularly loved the little bit of Scotland they brought to Yorkshire!

The wedding day happened to coincide with a storm, and whilst we managed to keep dry, we were battling gale-force winds! Despite this, we managed to get outside for the confetti, as well as a brief window for some portraits! It’s always a really nice moment in the day, where we head off together for 15 minutes or so to capture some beautiful natural portraits to mark you special day with.

After the wedding breakfast, the speeches were absolutely superb! They had everything from sentimental tears, to everyone falling about laughing. And a special mention to our Groom Ally, who delivered one of the best Groom’s speeches I’ve heard doing this job (and even had an anecdote that involved yours truly from our time working together when Han & Ally were at the early stages of their story together).

The night ended with a cracking party, and a packed dance floor the whole evening! It struck me that everyone spent the day smiling, and the happy atmosphere was so evident when looking back through my photographs from the day!

Huge congratulations again to Hannah & Ally – you really are the perfect pair and I am so happy for you both!!
